Regarding English language study, I offer help in all areas of grammar, spelling and vocabulary enrichment, being able to inspire students to pursue a depth of knowledge and understanding of the subject, regardless of students’ previous abilities. I have experience in teaching students of all age groups and levels.
The struggles students of English literature face at school are not so much to do with their understanding of the works studied, but with the analysis of those works. Being able to write analytically about poetry or prose is an acquired skill, rather than a natural gift. Furthermore, while a student is inspired by a given work of fiction and can provide good analytical comments on it, very few have an innate understanding of how to structure an essay or an extended answer in which to communicate their analysis of the work. I’ve been helping students with literary analysis, essay writing and structuring for over 10 years, having successfully transformed many students from merely inspired readers to skillful analysts of both poetry and prose, thus helping them reach their highest potential in school tests and examinations.
